Billie Eilish keeps adding to her growing collection of body art. Back in September, she gave her fans a little glimpse at her enormous back tattoo, which spans from the base of her neck down to her lower back. Though she keeps most of her ink covered up with her signature layered ensembles, we did get a peek at more of her collection at the Variety Hitmakers event on December 2.
Eilish attended the event in a bright blue cropped Dodgers baseball jacket and baggy belted jeans, which she accessorized with a pink beanie and silver cat-eye sunglasses. As she posed on the red carpet, her jacket lifted up just enough to show off the black dragon tattoo, which spans from part of her thigh up to her hip. Next to the dragon's head is the word “Hard” written in large, sweeping cursive, which appears to be a new design. We're not 100% sure if it's just the word “Hard” or if it's a full phrase; it does look like there's more to the design.
The musician has a handful of tattoos besides the back tattoo and the dragon. In 2019, she told Vanity Fair in her yearly interview that she wanted to get her first tattoo in 2020, and she did! "I did get a tattoo, but you won’t ever see it," she said in an interview at the time. (Now we know it's her last name, Eilish, written in a gothic font on her chest.). In 2021, she got a trio of fairies on her hand, a design she has previously called her “favorite.” Eilish also shared that the fairies were inspired by a beloved childhood book.
While Billie Eilish hasn't explained the inspiration behind most of her tattoos, it's clear that each one is meaningful for the star.
