This summer, it seemed like everyone wanted to be a “strawberry girl." And now, Jennie Kim of BLACKPINK is keeping it going.
The "strawberry girl summer" aesthetic, which was all about rosy, strawberry red cheeks and lips as though you'd been picnicking in the warm sunshine eating fresh strawberries, was everywhere seemingly overnight. Though we may be well into the holiday season, BLACKPINK's Jennie has put her own spin on the trend and TBH, it works just as well in the winter as it does in July.
On December 5, Jennie shared a pair of selfies to her Instagram where she can be seen holding a juicy ripe strawberry near her face. Though she's wearing minimal makeup in the pics, you can see a flush of rosy red blush across the top of her cheeks and over the bridge of her nose, plus just the subtlest hint of just-bitten strawberry color on her lips. She's wearing a beige sweater layered over a white T-shirt and her hair is pulled off her face in a high bun. Simple, sweet, strawberry!

Jennie's interpretation of the strawberry girl aesthetic comes hot on the heels of a few other celebrity looks, including Hailey Bieber's summery selfies; Bieber loved the strawberry aesthetic so much she made it part of her summer aesthetic overall, even releasing a rhode Strawberry Glaze Peptide Lip Treatment. (She also shared her favorite drugstore lip liner to get the look, if you're curious.) Dua Lipa, on the other hand, went for a maximalist approach with lots of blush.
Jennie's BLACKPINK bandmates have also put their signature spin on trending makeup looks in the past, like Rosé trying out the anti-mascara look, which trended on TikTok; Jisoo going grunge with waterliner; and Lisa setting her own trends with a MAC collab back in 2021.
