[gasps] Oh my God, no.

My first day of school, I threw up when I saw the gates

of my school in my gym bag.

[laughs] I totally forgot about this.

Hi Teen Vogue, it's Sydney Sweeney

and today I'm gonna be sharing some of my firsts.

[upbeat music]

The first time I saw myself as a meme

was from White Lotus was when Brittany and I are sitting

next to the pool, reading our books,

and people just turned that into everything.

And then I think right now the memes

are with Cassie in the bathtub.

There was one that was being shared

about when the DoorDash comes and knocks on your door.

I thought that was really funny. [laughs]

Well, my phone is constantly getting blown up

by memes of myself as different characters.

It's really funny.

The first friend I made on the set of euphoria was Maude

and the first episode, when we were doing the pilot,

she was kind of the only person I worked with

and so we completely hit it off and became friends.

I think Maude and I just kinda get each other.

And we're each other's cheerleaders, which is so amazing,

because I think girls should always pump each other up

and support each other and and we really support each other.

And it's really nice to be around that.

My first set was actually for a zombie movie in my hometown

and I begged my parents to let me do it.

I wrote a five-year business plan presentation

of what could happen if they let me audition.

And they took me, I ended up getting it,

and that was my first role.

It was a night shoot and I think I was just,

I mean, I was so young.

I was just hyped on adrenaline and I was so excited

and I had special effects makeup all over me

and it was a really exciting time.

Oh no, the business plan was like five years short

of everything else that needed to happen.

Oh gosh.

What was my first day of high school like?

It was a brand new school

and I get really bad anxiety in social settings.

[gasps] Oh my God, no.

My first day of school, I threw up when I saw the gates

of my school in my gym bag.

[laughs] I totally forgot about this.

I was so nervous and I was shaking.

I was freaking out. I had really bad social anxiety.

And we turn the corner, I'm in the car with my mom,

and we see the gates to the school

and I just threw up in my bag that had all my gym clothes.

And my mom goes, Oh my God, are you okay?

Do you not wanna go to school?

I'm like, Oh no, I feel much better now,

and I got out and I went to school.

That was my first day.

The first step I take to embody a character

is I usually create a playlist for who she is,

what she would listen to,

and that way, whenever I'm reading a script

or I start building the character

and working on a backstory,

I'm listening to the kind of music

that I think she would listen to.

And it's kind of like a big deep dive

into a black hole of music.

Oh gosh, I'd have to pull up my phone.

Maria, do you have my phone?

Library, playlist. Don't laugh at Cassie.

Okay, she has Beautiful by Bazzi,

Me and the Devil by Soap&Skin.

She has a lot of Soap&Skin, Wonder, Retrograde,

Billy Eilish, very her feelings.

The first article of clothing I ever took home

from a set was from Everything Sucks.

I had, there was an outfit that Emmaline wore.

It was this plaid skirt and this red top

and I was obsessed with it.

And I think that was the first thing I ever took home.

It's just something that sits in my closet.

I always think that I'm gonna wear

these different pieces out and then I'm like,

Oh no, I have to preserve this.

And they kind of all live in my character's worlds.

Oh gosh, yeah, I take a lot of jeans from set

because, when you're on set,

they tailor all of the jeans to fit you perfectly.

So these jeans just fit like no other jeans in the world

and who else is gonna wear 'em?

So they kind of sneak their way into my bag.

I first started training in grappling when I was about 13

and then I went to kickboxing when I was about 14

and I fell in love with it.

I love it.

The surprise, I was drawn to MMA

because of the surprise element.

No one, to this day, no one really truly believes

that I have the power to kick your ass.

I loved the feeling of being at the dojo

and all the guys were awesome.

They became my brothers and I felt so, just,

like a part of the team and the brotherhood.

And we had a couple months, we would have little matches

and their dads would come and they'd be all upset

that their son was gonna be put up against a girl.

And then I would beat them. And then the dads would get mad.

And that made me feel good. [laughs]

I first fangirl-ed over the Property Brothers

It was a very big moment of my life.

I was very excited to be meeting them, I'm a huge fan.

[laughs] I was at the Evening Before the Emmy's party.

And I mean the likes of Ron Howard, Steven Spielberg,

all these amazing people were there

and I'm keeping so poised and I was kinda,

I kept my [beep] together.

And then I saw the Property Brothers

and I was so nervous to go say hi.

And I got, I had to get pushed

to go gain the courage to say hi and introduce myself.

Big fan. I'm a huge of the show.

I mean, they have so many amazing shows on HGTV. I love it!

The first time I was nervous on set

is truly the first day of every set.

I always get a little nervous every time I go to a new set,

a new crew, and new people.

Kinda keeps it exciting.

First thing I do when I go home from set

is usually have an ice cream cone.

I like to end my day with ice cream.

There is a particular favorite of mine.

It is the Kit Kat ice cream cone.

The most amazing thing you'll ever have in your entire life.

On Wednesdays, Walgreens usually stocks up

and I buy them out.

Oh yeah, 'cause I would go and they wouldn't be there.

And I was like, When does the next shipment come in?

And then they told me, Wednesdays is when they come in.

So every Wednesday, I go to Walgreens and I buy the lot.

My first car was our 1993 Land Cruiser, or '90.

It was like a '90, '91 Land Cruiser.

It was the car I was brought home from the hospital in.

I love that car with all my heart.

The first car I am restoring is a 1969 Ford Bronco.

I fell in love with cars ever since I was little.

I always wanted to do it.

I had this Volvo that I had constantly had to fix up

and put cardboard underneath

'cause the oil would drip everywhere.

And I just had to constantly fix it up

and I was like, I really wanna do this

on a car that I love one day.

It's way harder than I thought it was gonna be.

Every day I wasn't filming Euphoria,

I would go to the shop and get under the car

and start working on it.

My first comedic role was playing Olivia in The White Lotus.

I was very nervous, but I felt like I was

in the best comedy camp you could possibly ask for.

I mean, I was surrounded by Molly Shannon,

Jennifer Coolidge, Murray Bartlett, Connie Britton.

They were so on their toes, they can just,

anything that came out of their mouth was funny.

The way they delivered and what they would say.

And I just hope that somehow I soaked up some of that talent

while I was watching.

The first moment we all met each other on White Lotus,

we were all quarantining in our hotel rooms

and we stuck our heads out on the balcony

and we all were sticking our heads out saying,

Hi, I'm Sydney!

And then Brittany was behind me.

She was like, I'm Brittany!

And Fred was to my right and we'd all just

stick our heads out and say hi.

I would drop food down to Brittany sometimes.

It was, it, honestly, I loved it.

It was a very amazing experience.

I've never been to a resort before.

I don't think I'm ever gonna be able to go back

because I had the entire place to ourselves.

It was just like 100, 200 people,

the crew and the cast, and no one else was there.

When am I ever gonna experience that again?

The first project that I greenlit with my company,

Fifty-Fifty Films is The Player's Table.

I partnered with Crazy Rose and Endeavor Content

and we sold it to HBO Max.

I always wanted to start a production company.

I've always loved the business side of things

and I think because I love creating my characters

to such an extensive extent,

I wanted to do that to an entire world.

And I'm allowing myself to do that through the company

and kind of build an entire world for a movie or a TV show

instead of just a character.

Thank you so much, Teen Vogue, and I will see you next time.
