Last week, Olivia Rodrigo was on set filming promotions for her Saturday Night Live performance. Her outfit of choice was a Blondie shirt with a picture of Deborah Harry—a cute tribute from one pop punk icon to another. She paired the loose cropped tee with a form-fitting plaid micro skirt, emphasizing the juxtaposing silhouettes. Keeping the styling minimalistic, she opted for just a few rings, a vampy red lip, and loose long waves. In early September, Rodrigo was spotted in New York City wearing a graphic T-shirt with one of Angelina Jolie's most iconic photos on it. She wore the top with a white pleated skirt, black loafers and sunglasses as well as a matching red lip, keeping a minimalistic color palette. The graphic tee and skirt combo seemed to be Rodrigo's unofficial uniform for summer 2023. On August 15, Rodrigo was also photographed in London in another skirt and graphic tee combo. This time, she wore another cultural icon, rock singer Pat Benatar. She opted for a simple gray A-line skirt and accessorized with '90s style sunglasses, jewelry and Mary Janes with socks.
Also that summer, Rodrigo wore a stitched butterfly T-shirt to a radio appearance on July 10. At a glance, it seems like one of her more simplistic choices, but at closer inspection, you'll see that the image is actually stitched onto the top, similar to one of Lindsey Lohan's most iconic outfits as Anna Coleman in Freaky Friday. Styled with a pleated skirt and Mary Janes, the look was fitting for Rodrigo's pop punk prodigy status.
